Jessica Youngton Accident Updates

A fatal motorcycle accident forced the partial closure of Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids on Friday night, after a woman lost control of her motorcycle and was killed.

According to authorities, the victim was identified as 19-year-old Jessica Youngton from Cedar Rapids. Witnesses reported seeing her crossing multiple lanes of traffic on the interstate before the accident occurred. Her motorcycle collided with a guardrail and overturned, leading to her tragic death.

The incident happened just before 11 p.m. close to the bridge over 7th Street NE, and no other injuries or vehicles were involved.

The Cedar Rapids police department closed the northbound lanes of I-380 for several hours to allow officials to conduct their investigation and gain access to the scene of the accident.

It remains unclear what caused Youngton to lose control of her motorcycle, and investigators are continuing their inquiry into the matter.
