On January 16, 2023, Swansea resident Barbara A. (Ballard) Chadwick, 92, passed away at home. She was the 37-year-long spouse of the late F.T. “Mickey” Chadwick, former president and general manager of Baker Tractor Corp.

She was an artist and longtime resident of Swansea, Westport, and Key County in Florida. She was the late Howland and Elsie (Rimmer) Ballard’s only child. She graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Framingham State University. Barbara enjoyed success as a teacher at Joseph Case High School before deciding to pursue her passion for art and founding Crewel and Canvas Inc.
